The Obamas … Perfect Family Role Model

We will soon have a Black President.  Young Black Kids and others just in need of motivation … now all have a role model to look up to and emulate.  They can now can see a positive role model and think “Yes I can”.

But that’s not all … there is more.

The idea of Black Relationships has gotten some of the worst stereotypes in America … even worst than Republicans.  Its to the point where women don’t believe their are no good men anymore, as Comeback talked about.  Too many Black Women are sadly convinced their never getting married.  You have men out there thinking that all women are these corporate ABWs who are just out for blood (which just isn’t true).  And too many people think the traditional Black household has disappeared … forever.

Well … we now have HOPE!!!

OBAMA … OBAMA … OBAMA …

Yes … we now have what may be the perfect role models for the traditional black family.

I mean … driven and successful husband … well dressed, intelligent wife and mother … and exactly 2 beautiful girls … as soon as that puppy comes along … absolutely perfect.

Not even the Huxtables were this perfect … with their 50 kids and no dog living in a townhouse (I still love you Claire though).

So … thank you President Obama.  Not only have you empowered African American youth all across the country … but now we may finally be able to repair the black household to the great and powerful unit that it once was.

I just saying … its hard to build a house without a good set of blueprints … or at least another house to copy!

So … again … Thank you President Obama … and Mrs. Obama … and the little Obama-lettes.  You have given us the protoype family … and now we can start to shed the undeserved sterotypes that have been unfairly placed upon us.

Feel me … ?

The Bad Part

BARACK OBAMA WON!!!

The inner joy I am experiencing today and experienced last night will be hard to beat for a long long time.  It was better than the aquafina flow, better than super head, better than finding the perfect mate … it was just … remarkable.

President Obama (has a nice ring … don’t it) has proven that as a people there is nothing we cannot accomplish.

And I don’t just want to make this a victory for Black people.  We as a nation have gained someone with the charisma, vision, and motivation to really enact some change and correct the mistakes of the past 8 years.  I am very proud to be an American and can now look at the next 4 years with a true sense of hope.

But as the title says … there is a bad part.

While I was watching the coverage last night on CNN, one of the anchormen started talking about the impact of an African-American President.  Apparently he teaches or is in somehow involved with schools in urban communities.  He said (paraphrased) “I don’t want to hear any complaints at all from my students.  They can’t say anyone is holding them back anymore.”  Essentially … he was declaring that racism and discrimination were over.

While driving to DC … my brother’s friend said “You know their gonna start saying the N* word now.”

A few days ago I had a vision … a powerful one.

I saw across the country … people glued to the TV watching the results … white and black cheering in unity.  Suddenly, Barack is announced as the next President … and then every Caucasian person turns to their African-American counterpart … looks them in the eye … and says … “Happy?  Racism is dead.”

So … that to me is the possible bad part.  Because a black man has managed to obtain the most powerful position in the free world … there is a good chance white america will officially consider racism dead … although its not.  There will continue to be injustice, discrimination will still exists, and there still is work to be done … but who knows how this is going to affect “relations”.

On a positive note … I finally feel the youth will have a great and real role model to look up to.  WIth the possibility of being President, black yoth everywhere will start trying hard, striving for more, and accomplishing great things.  This may be the single starting point of the “revolution” … and I guess it was televised.

Oh yeah … because this site is about dating and sh*t … uhhhh … Black Love in the White House.  See …

Life is Good

I just got into my house … the streets of DC were crazy in celebration.

Obama won!

Life for us as a people is looking up … the nation as a whole is looking positive.

No need to think about relationships now … go celebrate.

If you voted McCain … kick rocks.

I will say this … expect the official end of racism to be announced tomorrow.  Someone on CNN already hinted at it … but we will soon be robbed of the ability to complain about “The Man”, desire reparations, or claim injustice.  With this great history making event … Black people … we have no excuse and need to get it together.

Something more educated to come later.

Rantings of an SBM

Its Friday … and I think I’m going to try and keep this whole rant positive.  There is a Black Man as the Democratic Presidential Candidate and with his wife by his side, not only is he showing a strong Black Man … he is showing a strong Black Family.  So … all positive rants and I challenge you all to do the same.

  • Barack Obama has shown that he is not playing.  Without making silly personal attacks (such as old fart, senile, etc), he managed to go through all the major reasons why he deserves to be President over John McCain.  Also, he is just so inspirational!  I mean … as some one who has never been a politcal junky (I know … a cardinal sin while living in the Nation’s Capital) … I’m now inspired.  Luckily my brother is already a part of the local Obama chapter, so I’m off to the next meeting.
  • Look at Michelle.  Boy … makes me just fall in love with strong black women all over again.  Especially watching the biography and listening to how she fell in love.  He took her to a training session for a date.  There was no criticizing or complaints, but she saw him in his prime, doing what he loved, and being the strong Black men he knew he had to be.  And that people … is what made him fall in love with him.  Watching him give himself to others (not her) … is what did it for her.
  • D*mnit if he aint got cute daughters too.  Now, I never call children cute (never ever ever) … cause I think its soft.  But … I just thought about them little girls running around the white house … knocking over vases and writing on the walls.  D*mn … why is Barack Obama inspiring me to settle down and looking forward to my own little SBMs.
  • John McCain was positive.  Lawd … Its a very good week!
  • Its Friday, been a tough week, but its over now.  Got a new part for my bike courtesy of a very special someone … and I plan to ride around for ours showing it off. I should ride up to Philly again …
  • CNN HD on my big screen TV looks good.  I just paid off for all of it on my 0% apr credit card for it … so its finally all mine (I know I should have paid it all cash … but I was buying a house and it was Black Friday).
  • My credit score randomly jumped 30 points recently.  I’m not above 750 at my ripe young age.  Oh … what is that … a lil dirt on my shoulder … wipe me down.
  • My cold is subsiding and I’m feeling better.
  • The submissions I have been getting  have been great.  Keep them coming to sbm@singbleblackmale.net.  I might have to start doing two days a week.  There is just a lot of good stuff out there.
  • Sometimes I sit back and think about what this blog has become.  To be honest … this site is one of the first successful things I have completed outside of school and my career.  I have attempted to stop being lazy, throw myself into something, and make it a success.  I just have to thank every single reader, every single commenter, and every person who has helped me be a success behind the scenes.  You really don’t know how much joy I get from people actually enjoying the little bit of stuff I have to say.  In addition, just the support I get when I am personally going through stuff always is uplifting.
  • Ok … enough softness … titties!

So … I know challenge you … with a long weekend coming up … and a historic week on our backs … lets keep it 100% positive.

RANT!
